| | Frightened Rabbit - Head Rolls Off | ] | You know what a great feeling is? Wiping your hands of someone and knowing that you're doing the right thing. Some might call it callous, but me? I call it economical and smart. Sometimes people change, and often? Not for the better. So sometimes you're forced to make hard decisions, like cutting someone out of your life to free yourself from any weight you might have had to them. It's liberating in my opinion, and it brushes away all that emotional clutter.
So here I sit, with the weekend off, listening to some Frightened Rabbit, paying off my debts and loans, going back to college in two weeks...
Hot damn I feel fantastic. I love being me, and really, how many people can say that and really mean it? Despite what misgivings I might have about myself (and believe me, there are a lot), I honestly do love myself.
Yeah. I kick ass. |

| Dog choices |
[Apr. 28th, 2009|06:41 pm] |
So I've narrowed what kind of dog I want down from 20.
-American Eskimo (Great apartment dogs, played with one today and it had a wonderful temperament) -Golden Retriever (Playful, loyal, friendly. Spot on for all qualities really) -Samoyed (Same as the above, only fluffier) -Husky (Independent, strong-willed, just looks so damn cool) -Pomeranian (Small, friendly, loyal, and just so damn adorable) -Pembroke Welsh Corgi (Small, friendly, eager, and they're these chubby little balls of love) -Rough Collie (Loyal, protective, friendly, and just beautiful animals really)
Or, I could get lucky and adopt some random mutt at the local shelter and he/she turns out to be perfect.
Suggestions, thoughts? |

[Apr. 17th, 2009|06:17 pm] |
Not best. Best has yet to be achieved. Short of me finding 50 bucks on the side of the road that one time, that was pretty sweet... But I kinda sorta had lunch with a girl chick, had a Green Tea (Matcha for all you animu fans) Smoothie, played with a puppy at the local pet store (Sweetest little American Eskimo puppy, barely 8 weeks old), went to the music store to see about buying a capo and played two of the new 2009 Fender Telecasters on a Line 6 amp. The Road-Worn was nice, and felt smooth with some decent action, but it lacked the punch that the Standard had as far as sound goes. Also got a number of one of the regulars at the guitar shop who wants to just jam sometime. Sooo damn awesome. From there, I went on to the DMV, picked up the 2009 Motorcyclist's Handbook, stopped by the gear shop down the street and picked out a helmet size, and then just spent about half an hour or so just... sitting at the local park. I need more days like this. Simple pleasures are the best ones. |

-Work my ass off at my new job -Finish commissions -Pay off collections to reinstate my license -Pay off Banco Popular to get my ass off Check Systems -Use my tax return to pay off this damn ticket for the car -Open up a checking and a savings account after check systems are cleared. Failing that, open up an account with the local credit union -Move in with dad to cut down on the commute to work -Pay back my miscellaneous debts
And for Phase 2:
-Enlist in the motorcycle classes at the college -Look for a decent motorcycle -Start looking for a 1 bedroom/studio apartment. 2 bedroom if my sister has a job. -Apply for an auto loan, get mother or father to cosign for it -Move into apartment
Final phase: -Keep up with bills -Re-enroll into college, English and animation, Guitar/choir course on the side. -Buy a husky and a corgi, and one kitten -Make said apartment a home -See about going to that thing, at least for a day, just to see what the fuss is all about and to meet some friends
...I got a lot of work ahead of me. It's not going to be easy, it really isn't. But to be honest, I can't help but be excited about how this all turn out. I'm stoked, I really am, for the first time in AGES.
God, I'm happy, I really am. Maybe I'm not really happy unless I have something to look forward to, I mean something genuinely awesome to look forward to. |

[Feb. 19th, 2009|04:42 pm] |
So in 30 days we're getting evicted. And it's mostly my fault. In the time I was going to school, I could have been working and helping more to pay the mortgage. Mom was getting fewer hours as it was, my sister quit her job...
There's nothing worse than being in a hopeless situation and knowing that you were part of the cause.
As it stands, I really don't know where I'm going to go. 3 months of job searching and no callbacks, being laid off, having nowhere to go or if anyone can even take me in. I'm not scared, nor am I expectant of anything. They say you can't fight fate, life, destiny, whatever. The only thing you can do is let it engulf you.
I refuse to believe that. You can rise to meet whatever comes your way, even if you don't know the outcome. That's what I intend to do. I don't know where I'm going, or how I'm going to get there... But honestly, I have to say I look forward to the trip. |

Now I just feel sorry for her. And as such it's now exceedingly easy to forgive her.
Not that I don't want her punished, I still want her to hang by her tits from a post, but I forgive her. And now she has no power over me.
This is a good night. |

It's better then just coasting by, day by day in a state of apathy. Life is just more than making a paycheck and getting by. I get it now. I finally get it. I'm not gonna be content anymore. So what if I twist my ankle if jumping over a wall? So what if I break an arm spelunking? So what if I get rejected trying to chat up a girl? Fuck it man! Just FUCK IT! Not anymore.

Exhibit A: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jdMIQ1jfJm0
Exhibit B: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gdz_G1VGJ4c
Dragonforce, clearly, is not suited for music. Their only saving grace, if you could call it that, is that they're fast. Not good, but fast. Now, I'll concede that I was taken in by this some moons ago and professed to like their work. This was before I reached the age of reason. Looking back, all they really have goin' for them is Through the Fire and the Flames, which admittedly is fun o play on Guitar Hero...
But that's it! They have no stage presence, no synergy, nothing! It just feels sloppy and there's no energy to it.
Now Jethro... You can really feel it. They know how to work the crowd, the music sizzles and you can feel it running through you. Plus they have a flautist solo! That's totally awesome!
I'm sick of people treating Dragonforce like they're the greatest fucking thing ever, and it's a pain, really, to see the youth of today passing better bands in favor of THIS shit. It's aggravating as all hell. You know who you are. |

| Michael Turner and George Carlin |
[Jul. 2nd, 2008|02:20 am] |
Michael Turner was one of my favorite artists. He was a major reason I started drawing. I thought to myself 'Man... if only I could do what he can do...' and I started. His work in the second Volume of Batman/Superman, the one that introduced Supergirl, the real one Kara Zor'el... It was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. His backgrounds, his anatomy, how detailed he made the facial expressions...
I never felt more jealous of anyone in my entire life. He was everything I ever wanted to be. Successful, talented, owner of his own publishing company. He was an idol to me.
I found out he died, and it didn't dawn on my until I went to his website.
http://www.aspencomics.com/
I shed a single tear, something I don't do very often.
George Carlin... He was a great man. Witty, intelligent, funny, and he always made me think. He had such a way with words that it took my breath away more often then not. And upon his passing I sat for a few minutes remembering his routines. His Live in New York album was the first comedy CD I ever bought (at least I think that was the title, there was a picture of a man farting on the CD) and I listened with a mixture of horror and awe as this man expunged his own wisdom's and thoughts to me.
http://georgecarlin.com/home/home.html
I had a feeling he'd want to go out like this.
I'll miss you both. Michael, George... You both changed my life. For the better or for the worse, I couldn't say... But you were both important to me.
Thank you.
Michael Turner April 21 1971 - June 27 2008
George Carlin May 12 1937 - June 22 2008
Rest In Peace. Both of you. |
